We were lucky enough to have a visit from the Bream Bay College Hapa Kaka group.
The tamariki were eager and excited to see the Hapa Kaka group perform. We practised our waiata 'Te Aroha' and 'Tutira mai' which the tamariki performed fabulously.
The tamariki were blown away by the performance from the Kapa Haka group and sat mesmerised. What a stunning performance! There were gorgeous harmonies from the girls and strong warrior dancing from the boys.
Did the tamariki tell you all about it when they got home?
What a fabulous experience for the children. We enjoy singing waiata at Bream Bay Kindergarten and the children were mesmerised by the whole thing. We videoed the performance and have since played it for the children...as the video played the children got up and participatded in the singing and actions too! Very cute! Of course the haka was a huge hit...watch this space for more excitment I say, especially with the world cup coming soon...I'm sure all the children will become very familiar with the haka. Cheers Tania.
