Matariki book

During Matariki we read the book of Matariki at mat time to the children and then left the book available to the children to use and read if they wanted to.  I captured these photos of one of the Tamariki engaged with the Matariki book.

Matariki Breakfast

Wow what an awesome turn out this morning for our Matariki Breakfast.  The morning started at 8.15 am with our Karakia at 8.30 am which was conducted by one of our whanau.  The Karakia was interactive with the children saying "tihei mauri ora".  Breakfast was under way and everyone was hungry.

The atmosphere of the breakfast was calm and relaxing.  It was just lovely.  Everyone had a great time and our tummies got full.

Peoples comments
"It's beautiful it looks like a wedding set up."
"Oh my gosh, it's amazing you guys have done an awesome job."
"This is awesome teachers, thank you you guys have worked hard, it's just amazing."

Thank you so much to everyone who attended and supported the breakfast.

Kumara Soup and bread rolls for Matariki.

Today 1st July 2014 we made Kumara soup and bread rolls as part of our Matariki celebrations.  This was enjoyed by all most of the children were coming back for seconds and we all loved the bread rolls.  We are so lucky at our Kindergarten yummy hot soup on a cold winters day.
