Melbourne Study Tour

Kia ora te whanau...I'm very fortunate and excited this coming week to be off to Melbourne for teacher professional development. I am attending an Educational Study Tour with Reggio Emilia Aotearoa New Zealand(REANZ) and will be travelling with two other teachers from our NKA lead organisation...Jo from Kerikeri Kindergarten and Alisha from Ruawai Kindergarten.

This exciting experience will provide opportunities to hear the latest research and theories in Early Years education while seeing innovative programmes in action...this is a fantastic opportunity to reflect on our Bream Bay Kindergarten learning environment, to see how we stack up internationally, and to gain new ideas and understanding about how to ensure we offer children the best learning opportunities possible. Exciting stuff!

I'm sure it will be a full on week and I look forward to keeping you updated through the blog. Don't forget that this in an interactive forum...if you're interested or have questions...comments and question greatfully accepted! I'd love to hear your thoughts.

PS Derek is coming too...he has his passport packed and ready to go! I'm sure the kids will be excited to see what he gets up to.

Hey, I hope your holidays are going well and you are enjoying your time with your children...mine are certainly keeping me on my toes!
Ka kite, Tania.

Developing Friendship Skills

Friendships

Through friendships, children learn social skills such as co-operation,
sharing and conflict management.

Friendships foster a child’s sense of group belonging and give opportunities for children to develop their empathy skills—their abilities to understand different perspectives.

Another blog story by Maddison

Posted by PicasaHere is another one of Maddison's blog stories.  She is learning how to create stories on the computer to share with others.

Maddison tells a story

Posted by PicasaMaddison wanted to use the computer to put a story on the blog.  She chose the photos and with my support added the words she wanted to say.  Please comment on her work, Maddison is extremely proud of her efforts...and rightly so...she worked really hard to get it just right!
