Cricket season

It's that time of year when crickets can be found hiding in all the strangest places......

At kindergarten, some of our children are absolutely fascinated by insects at the moment and there are many big hunts on the go. From when they arrive in the morning till they leave in the afternoons it is all about the crickets.

It is a delight to see when children join together on a nature journey.

Nature is full of fascinating elements to stimulate children's natural curiosity.

This journey together offers children an opportunity to strengthen friendship ties through co-operation and shared experiences....working together and caring for creatures together.

Caring for insects and small animals can stimulate our children's nature journey. While living together and taking care of living creatures, children develop an attachment to these creatures just as they do to their friends.

These bug hunts and experiences help to develop caring and affectionate attitudes to other living creatures, as well as a sense of responsibility for our living creatures that we share our world with.

Out with the old...

Wow, February...can't believe we're into another month already this year!  It's great to see so many of our children and whanau safe, happy and excited to be returning to us after the summer holidays.

It's been all go here...

As you can see we've had a busy time at Bream Bay Kindergarten over the break...builders full steam ahead with refurbishing our environment.  A new office, new kitchen, new whanau room, more storage and a fabulous transformation to the interior.

A big thank you to Keith and the building team who worked tirelessly over the holiday period to ensure tight time frames were met...love your work!
And to the team at Northland Kindergarten Association who helped make a dream come true...thanks, you rock!

We're all sparkly and new!

Let's be sunsmart!

A huge thank you to Orrs Pharmacy Ruakaka!!

On friday we were very lucky to welcome Emma Hales from Orrs Pharmacy Ruakaka into the kindergarten. Emma spoke with the children about the importance of being San Smart and making sure that they Slip, Slop, Slap and Wrap.

SLIP - on a hat
SLOP - on sunscreen
SLAP - on clothing
WRAP- on sunglasses

As well as promoting the Sun Smart message to our tamariki, Orrs Pharmacy Ruakaka gave each of our children a Sun Smart pack which included information about being sunsmart, an SPF 30 sun protection lip balm, three small sunscreens and a voucher to bring into the pharmacy to choose a FREE pair of sunglasses.

A huge thank you to Orrs Pharmacy Ruakaka and to all our wonderful parents and whanau who came along and shared the day with us.
