Learning from experts

We are super excited as we move closer to our Share our Heart Kindness day. On Tuesday the 31st August we will be celebrating Kindness by offering flower bouquets to our community.

Today we welcomed Katie, Zoe's Mum, to further develop our knowledge and gain new skills on floral arranging. We are so grateful to Katie for all her knowledge and expertise. There were so many things to learn.

"The capacity to learn is a gift, the ability to learn is a skill, the willingness to learn is a choice" Brian Herbert.

There was a great deal of discussion and conversation around flowers, how to look after them, how beautiful they were and what types were the children's favourites.

"What a child can do today with assistance, she will be able to do by herself tomorrow" Lev Vygotsky.

Thanks to Katie we now know the importance of the centre piece, the foilage, and the accentuating pieces. The tamariki absolutely embraced the opportunity to experiment and learn with the flowers.

Katie we thank you very much for giving us your time and your expertise. We loved learning from you, and developing our knowledge of how to create such beautiful pieces.

"Generosity is giving to others something that is of value to us. Generosity is a quality of spirit that calls us to share what we have. We also allow others to give to us. Every gift is doubly blessed, bringing joy to the giver and the receiver. Generosity helps us give time and attention to the feelings, needs and views of those around us. It springs from a sense of abundance and gratitude for the limitless richness of life. We give cheerfully without expecting anything in return. We are receptive to blessings. Generosity encourages us to share the bounty". Virtues project, 2005.
